A collection of the things that made me smile, laugh, cry, or jump for joy throughout the week.
*Cle Tile – I discovered this company a few weeks ago and now am pretty much set on using their products for all of the tile in our house. They are so beautiful and have an artisan flare to them for a very reasonable price. I am thinking of going with their Casablanca Café cement tile for our kitchen. So excited!
*La La Land Trailer – So I haven’t actually been to a movie theatre since I went with some girlfriends to “Bridesmaids” five years ago. However, I will definitely be going to La La Land. It looks so amazing and just like the frivolous beauty that I always need in my life. Plus Ryan Gosling playing the piano is the gift I never thought I needed!
*Gilmore Girls starting in a week – I am also so freaking excited for the “Gilmore Girls” revival. I have loved the show for years and last year binge watched the whole series during Eliza’s infant screaming stage. It was pretty much what kept me going and provided some relief from the insanity that is being a new mom. I can’t wait to be able to visit Stars Hollow again and see what the characters are up to. I am currently watching some favorite episodes to get in the mood for next week.
*Hillbilly Elegy – I heard about this memoir by J.D. Vance on NPR about a month or so ago. The book is about his family, people from Kentucky who relocated to Ohio, and their isolation and economic hardships. The interview with Vance was fascinating enough that I sat in my car to finish it, after pulling up at my house. I just ordered the book and can’t wait to start it.
*Leonard Cohen – I have loved Leonard Cohen for as long as I can remember. Sometimes music can express what speaking cannot and he could say things in a song that were so simple yet so poignant. He could get a point across with his lyrics and melody that it would take hundreds of pages to evoke otherwise. This is a great songwriter. He famously said, “There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.” What a fitting quote for our world these days. He made an amazing contribution to the world with his music and prose.
*Huffington Post Article – This article that I came across a couple of days ago, called “Allies Form a Circle of Protection Around Muslim Students Praying,” brought me some solace and encouragement when it comes to our current state. No matter what is going on in the world or with people at the top, if we are good people who love each other and embrace each others differences, it will all be OK.
*Woman – My girlfriend sent me this song by Diana Gordon and I immediately thought, “This is my new anthem.” A little girl power goes a long way! 🙂
*My always inspiration is this sweet girl! She is talking like crazy now and has an opinion about pretty much everything. She is her mamma’s daughter when it comes to that. As frustrating as she can be sometimes, it is all worth it knowing that we are helping to form her into a confident, independent, loving girl. MEB
