It is the middle of the afternoon. Eliza is sleeping. I should be paying bills, grocery shopping or working on our house. Instead I am completely engrossed in learning about my life path number according to numerology. A little back story; when we went to Cannon Beach over Christmas, we went into a cute home and jewelry store downtown where we were greeted by a wonderful lady with loads of information. She was standing behind the counter that was filled with Alex and Ani bracelets and charms and offered to help us figure out our life path and soul numbers. I love that kind of stuff. I love thinking about the spiritual and the interconnectedness of the world. I love thinking that there are some things that are just predestined or innate to us individually, bestowed by God or the universe. We said “heck yes!” and proceeded to flood this little store with more loud, blonde women than she had ever seen in her life, I am sure. We discovered our numbers, had her tell us a little bit about them and then we bought the bracelets. Needless to say, it was a good day for her. I went back to our rental that afternoon and did a little bit more reading about what numerology is and what my numbers meant. I have been wearing the bracelet since.
About an hour ago I glanced down at my hand, and let myself be distracted from the more tedious things I was working on. I ended up on numerology.com reading about my life path number 9 and the other numbers that are in my chart. I now want my chart printed and hanging in my room, on the bathroom wall, in my wallet and maybe even tattooed on my butt. I have read horoscopes so many times, and although they do seem to get it right, they are also sometimes over-generalized; not specific enough to really feel like anything more than fun. That is not the case with numerology. The more time I have spent looking up my numbers and the numbers of people around me, the more convinced I am that this stuff has to be real and is some cosmic information that we should all have at our fingertips.
The website has much more detailed information but from what I can tell, numerology is an ancient study of the language of numbers. There are a set of core numbers for every person that are determined based on your birth date and your given name. Your life path number is based on your birth date (how to calculate it is linked below) and the others such as your heart’s desire number and expression number are based on the letters in your full given name. The life path number is the most important number because it is with you your whole life and helps to guide you in everything you do. I started calculating life path numbers for many people I know like my brother, my mom, my hubby, even Eliza and it is crazy how much information is completely spot on and specific. I swear there is something to this.
The scariest part of numerology that I have discovered so far is that Eliza’s life path number is a 1. Which means I have been given the task of taming a lion, or at least harnessing its power. She is individualistic, independent, stubborn, and an aggressive and powerful force. She is a doer and is not afraid of confrontation. Anyone that has been around her during one of her crazy temper tantrums can attest to the fact that all of this is completely true. On a positive note, now I can blame her craziness on her being a number 1. It can’t be that she takes after me, must be the number thing! MEB
