In a past post I wrote about my transition from trendy to classic quality when it comes to fashion. These riding boots were one of my very first purchases of this transition. I bought them 3 winters ago. I was in my first year of teaching, which brought an actual paycheck that seemed like a fortune, and I knew that I wanted to invest in something that I would love for years. These boots fit the bill and I have loved them, and worn the heck out of them since.
There are a few things that really make them long-lasting and my go-to pair. Their versatility is one of those things. I love the fact that I can wear them with leggings, jeans, dresses, anything really. They make cute, short dresses transition to fall wonderfully and they make a sweater and leggings or jeans look much more put together. Another thing I love is the color. I am glad that I decided on this rich brown instead of black. I love a black boot but brown makes a bit more of a statement and is a bit more boho, funky while remaining classic. The width of the boot shaft is another thing that I am in love with. I consciously decided to go with a wide shaft because of the magic it performs on a leg. By having a wide shaft, your legs look thin in comparison. I will take that any day. Finally, what I love about these boots is the quality. They weren’t cheap, especially on a teacher’s budget, but they have lasted. After three long fall and winter seasons, they still feel and look great. I condition them every now and then but really haven’t done too much to them and they have really held up. They have walked miles through New York City, they have trudged through snow and rain, and they only look and feel better for it. It makes me sad to think of a day when I will have to retire these boots, so I don’t think about it. I will just keep wearing and taking care of them and pray that it never happens.
These Shirley OTK Boots that Frye has this season are pretty amazing.
I also love the Frye Melissa Seam Boots.
Nordstrom is having a boot sale right now and they have these Frye Melissa Knotted Boots for a great price as well as the Tory Burch Derby Boot and the Tory Burch Jolie Boot on a fantastic sale. Happy boot shopping!
And if you are in the mood for a little nostalgia, here is some clear evidence of how awesome these boots have held up and how often I have worn them over the past 3 years. Oh how life has changed since then. MEB
