Every year when the Christmas tree, garlands, knickknacks, and snow globes make their way back into storage, the house ends up feeling barren. The stark contrast between the warmth and sparkle of Christmas decorations and what is left afterwards could make anyone feel a bit blue. Although, I have to admit that taking down the decorations sometimes makes my OCD self feel a major sense of relief. However you feel about the loss of the trimmings around the house, it seems that in these last stages of winter, a little warming of our home décor might be in order. A transition period from the excess of Christmas to the bright and airy, open your windows, fresh flowers spring décor that we will be craving very soon.
I am a true believer that your surroundings have a major impact on your mood and attitude. If you are feeling dreary about the way your home feels, then you will feel dreary about the last days of winter. So instead of waiting and hoping for spring, I think we should bask the last days of winter’s coziness. If I had a house to be decorating, (we are in the process of moving into my moms for the duration of our reno) these are some things that I would want to be adding to our space in order to liven up the next couple of months.
